“And He took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.”

 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The mission statement of Epiphany Lutheran Church is to help people grow into a living relationship with Jesus and His Church through worship and fellowship; to understand God’s purpose for their life through Bible study and prayer; and to go forth as Jesus’ Ambassadors to care for and share His Good News with all people.

Epiphany Lutheran Church Mother’s Day Out is licensed by the state and was established to help meet the needs of young families in the Pearland community.  It is our calling and privilege to provide a program where children are cared for in a loving and secure environment, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through everyday activities. Children attend chapel in the sanctuary on a weekly basis where they experience worship and singing.

We are committed to the belief that “children learn by doing.”  In partnership with parents, we provide well balanced, age appropriate activities, including the introduction of colors, numbers, shapes and the alphabet.  Social skills are a very important part of being a preschool child.  Classroom activities focus on the importance of sharing, listening and cooperative play.

Our Pre-K 4 classes focus on preparing the children for Kindergarten in a variety of fun ways. This includes encouraging independence, expanding fine and gross motor skills, reading readiness, and math/science concepts.  Circle time is used to introduce new concepts, including the calendar, show and tell, student of the week, etc.  Creativity is promoted through the use of centers, art and music.

NOVEMBER 2014

 Dear Parents,

Fall is in FULL swing now and we are looking forward to many upcoming events and festivities.  The children had lots of fun in October with visits from the dentist and fire truck, parties and cute costumes.

The holidays are approaching us very quickly.  This is one of our favorite times of the year, as we encourage your children to explore the things that they are thankful for.  In order for your children to have a better understanding of Thanksgiving, all of the classes will participate in a “Thanksgiving Feast” on THURSDAY and FRIDAY, November 20th & 21st.  Your child’s teachers will have a sign up sheet for this soon.

Every year, we like to involve the children in a community project by learning to share what God has blessed each one of us with.  Once again, we would like to help out the local Christian Helping Hands.  CHH is a non- profit organization formed by local churches who help people with basic needs, such as food and toiletry items.  These items are taken to CHH weekly.  We encourage your child to bring non perishable food items or toiletry items to their class so that they can talk about the importance of sharing with others.

…for God loves a cheerful giver.  (2 Corinthians 9:7)

December 7, 2014 will be MDO Sunday here at Epiphany at the 10:30 service in the AFLC.  The children and teachers will be recognized and then invited to sing songs that they are now learning!  Please mark your calendars and we hope to see you at this special service.

We want to thank Ryan Grych, his dad Gerard and Ryan’s Boy Scout troop #468 for the great job at refurbishing our playground.  They added another rock border, shoveled and moved rocks, cleaned toys, spread sand, and trimmed trees.  Ryan chose this as his project as he is working on his Eagle badge.  Ryan is the son of our former MDO teacher, Ms. Joni!

REMINDERS:

  • Chapel days are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:20am.  If you would like to join us for Chapel, please take a seat toward the back of the sanctuary.  We would love to see you there!

  • Please make sure ALL of your child’s belongings are marked clearly, including coats, sweaters, hats, lunch kits, diaper bags, book bags, bottles, cups and pacifiers!  Thank you!

  • Don’t forget to send a jacket or sweater with your child.  We will go outside on nice days!

  • Late fees are to be paid in cash directly to the teacher on duty.  There are clocks in all classrooms to synchronize your watches and car clocks with!

  • Thanksgiving holidays are Tuesday – Friday, November 25-28.  There will be no MDO this week.

  • Please remember to dress your child “potty friendly”.  Easy on and off clothing helps your child to become more independent and bathroom time a little easier.

  • Please have November tuition paid in full by Friday, Nov. 14.

  • Don’t forget to LIKE us on FACEBOOK!  It is our policy not to post pics of the children on FB, but we DO put the pics on Shutterfly.  You will need to create your own account, go to the share site and once approved, you will be able to view and print pics.
